Yes, I AM a NASA Junkie

Hey.  Honest-to-god water on the moon!  This is SO COOL, people!

Chuffed

Both of my children have been voted “Most Individual” by their Senior classes.

There is no overstating how thrilled I am with that.

How Not to Start a Quarter

Hannah calls just as I’m readying to walk out the door this morning.  She’s been throwing up.  Have to rouse Briton to go get her.

Arrive at school, and there are NO parking spaces to be had.  Cars are on the grass, every Disabled spot is taken — wherever a car can fit, it has been left.  Students are up to 30 minutes late to class because they’ve been driving around looking for a place to put their car.

Hannah is now home, on the couch, with ginger ale, crackers and a fever.

School is over until tomorrow.

Over the weekend, I discovered who my remarkable Secret Pal  from this round was.  Package from Saturday:

SP14CalendarCowgirlNoroLion

Could there be a more perfect bunch of gifts for me?  No.  Didn’t think so. Thank you!

It’s Come to This

Here is your chance to decide on the 2009 Knitters’ Hunk.  Thank you all over myself for your involvement in this — trust me, I have a lot of fun this time each year.

I am not going to let results be seen this time, as I have with all the other votes, just to keep the suspense and surprise in play.  But, by this time tomorrow, I’ll announce who the Hunk is, and who is eligible to win the Grand Nominating Prize!!!!

Very, Very Me

Ca-Runch

Wow — Patrick Dempsey coming through in the clutch!  One vote between him and Clooney.  It’s definitely serious time now.

Saturday, Mid-Hunk

Life around these bloggin’ parts has been mostly Knitters’ Hunk lately, of course.  Bookies would say there have been two “upsets” — seeds being beaten by non-seeds.  Yet, how anyone could call a Patrick Stewart or a Johnny Depp win in a contest of desirability/hotness/appreciation a real shock is beyond me.  Still, Mr. Depp bettered 7th-seeded Eric Bana, and Mr. Stewart edged our #6 Jeffrey Donovan by one vote. We’ve now got 8 of the final 16 chosen.  Ryan Reynolds is gone, which lightens my load a wee bit, because it is really hard to find pictures of him with a shirt on!  Patrick Dempsey and George Clooney, on the other hand, remain,  and quality photos of them = a treasure trove of riches!

Speaking of. . .   My terrific Secret Pal struck again this week.  She has been so kind to me, and sent me such excellent things.  Look at this:

SPWrapped

Pretty all a-wrap, but. . .

SPOpened

Gorgeous Cascade Superwash Paint yarn, Berroco Sox yarn (have I mentioned lately how much of a Berroco whore I am?), a keychain flashlight, adorable bunny card (Melanie. . . !), and

SPNeedles

Look at those beautiful needles!  And that delicate little rosewood (?) crochet hook!  Almost — almost — too lovely to use.  I’m completely enchanted by the little hook.  Thank you a hundred times, SP!

And, as if having a good Secret Pal weren’t enough, a good Internet friend was also thinking of me.  Although, in all honesty, I was going to chide her for sending me something in an orange mailer:

Woodruff

But ALL was forgiven when I saw what was inside:

LionOne

Can you see it?

LionTwo

A lion cloth!  Perfection!!

Thanks, Amanda!!!  We’ll meet for Krispy Kremes ASAP!

On to Round Two

As a wise knitter has said, “It just doesn’t get any easier.”

Here you go:

I Know, I Know. . .

Some of these choices are difficult.  (Won’t say “hard,” Marin — too obvious.)  But, you shouldn’t always vote only with your hormones, should you?  A little brainwork is okay.  With just a few voting minutes left, a couple of yesterday’s contests are very close.  We may need overtime!

Though the polls for today’s round won’t close until tomorrow, no new match-ups until Monday.  This will put us deeper into September than I had originally anticipated, but that, too, is okay.

Already in the Round of 32, in case you’ve missed the final tallies, are:  Christian Kane, Nathan Fillion, Josh Holloway, David Boreanaz, Ioan Gruffud, Hugh Laurie, Jesse Spencer, Simon Baker, Patrick Stewart, Anderson Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Alan Rickman.  Four of the following look to join them there:

Have a great weekend, everyone.  Thanks for all your votes!

Yes, We’re Still in Round One

And we will be for a few more days.

Are you having fun?

Would like all to know that the match-ups were drawn under the watchful eye of my Mama.  Mama don’t brook no cheatery.  In fact, if there were two men with the same first name (“Michael”), she needed  proof I wasn’t tinkering with the entries.

It’s all above board here at KHCentral.

I know you can find this out for yourselves, but our winners from Day One were Simon Baker, Alan Rickman, Nathan Fillion and Hugh Laurie.  And here are your next candidates:
