Marin

In quite a few ways, Marin is someone I’d like to be.    Or like to be like.  And who’d've thought I found her by combing through Robin’s blogroll?

I won a Haiku contest on Marin’s blog.  The prize: a pair of handknit socks.  But it seems that Anti M had a few other things she’d been meaning to send me, so they all got placed in a Priority Mail box which arrived at my door yesterday:

The cards cover everything from Anniversary through Mother’s Day.

Rupert showed particular interest in Pepe’s Guide to Life.  (Which Briton later read from, in a spot-on King Prawn accent.)

Here are the awesome socks (knee-highs, thank you very much) along with some yarn in the (what else?) “Lust” colorway.

But was that all?  Oh, nonononono:

What about the obligatory knitter-to-knitter chocolate?

Now, you may not be able to read the label on the lovely little pig:

That’s right: chocolate and bacon.  Now, I’ll be straight up honest and admit to breaking off a dainty back foot to try this combination.  And while it didn’t knock off my socks (Marin-made or otherwise), that may be due as much to the fact that the chocolate is dark, and I much prefer milk.  But it’s a flying pig, and she’s lovely, and we’re keeping her.

Then, the “odd extras”:

Hannah grabbed the maraca:

While I was happy to have a new, sturdy, compass-encrusted carbiner to replace an aging and un-springy one:

What?  Don’t act surprised at my key chain.  Not if you’ve read more than, oh, 3 posts around here.  So I’ve got more “things” than “keys.”  So what?

Marin still likes me.

Marin LOVES you. And is glad the chocolate pig made up for getting your birthday present to you in May.

I only wish I’d found a Cinco de Mayo card…

    XOXO

What a great package! The socks are really beautiful.

The flying pig is pretty hilarious, if you ask me …

Oooooooohhhhhhhh! That’s for everything and more-so for the Fearless Fibers yarn and socks.

All of those things on the keychain are excellent for self-defense. The more the merrier. (Oh, yeah? How’d ya like a Yoda ear in your right nostril?)
