What is the Deal?

We are having no luck with machines on this trip.  Entering into evidence:

1)  The “Check Engine” light on the car dashboard came on about 3/8 into the drive up.  Obviously, we kept going.  Every single other time that has happened, it’s been because the gas cap wasn’t on tightly enough.  Something about vapors;  I don’t know.  We’re betting that’s the case yet again.

2)  The computers aren’t working.  At least with any dependability.  We can only connect to a wireless network from one corner of Daddy’s bedroom.  We cannot get DVDs to play on either mine or Briton’s machine.  His keeps shutting down completely for no discernible reason.

3)  My new camera (it’s “plum” in color) has software that will not load onto this laptop.  So I cannot share pictures with you.

4)  Only one theater within reasonable driving distance is showing “Milk,” which Briton very much wanted to see today.  Hannah and I drop him off, go to kill the time at a nearby mall.  He calls with the news that the projector has malfunctioned, and the screening has been cancelled.  He, because he cannot see that movie, nor watch any of the many DVDs he got for Christmas, is enraged, and, therefore, really delightful company.

“What is wrong with our family,” he mutters, “that nothing ever goes right for us?”

Me, I just knit and watch football and steal minutes on the computer when the InterWeb gods are smiling.

Yarn store tomorrow.  The only spending I planned on for the week.  Hannah in a scarf-making mood (she finished one on the drive up), so she’s going with me to see what she can find.  Briton is going to try another film, I think.  Different theater.  His girl Amy Adams in “Doubt.”

If she doesn’t cheer him up, it’s hopeless.

Geez. You would have been better off just being Luddites in the first place.

Hope the yarn store and “Doubt” are more successful.

Perhaps it would be better to stick with the un-plugged things for this trip. Teach Briton to knit and he can send Amy Adams a scarf.

I think the cosmos is telling you guys to unplug.

pssssst, Briton – you want to see the Benjamin Button movie. I think it’ll be most interesting to theatre geeks. I was certainly interested in the theatre geek aspects of it.

    hugs and snuggles,
    your dear ol’ AntiM
